Teak Deck, Bow Thruster and Much More for Harmony…

We have just finished a major overhaul of Harmony, a Najad 361.

She has been fitted with a brand new teak deck, as well as a new bow thruster with a fish eye.  We also stripped the undersides and have applied Coppercoat as well as undertaking some repairs below the waterline. The cockpit timber work and drop boards were very tired, so we painstakingly stripped these back and applied 2-pack varnish.

We also refurbished the gelcoat topsides – you can see from this picture that before we started, the topsides were quite dull and weathered:

We lightly abraded all over, cut back and finished by polishing using 3M products.  The owner was elated with the finish.  As part of the work on the topsides, we also moved the self-steering gear from starboard to port.

Finally, all internal joinery was made good, filling holes, tidying up the finish and improving the look of the interior.

Here are some pictures of the finished work, the relaunch and Harmony back in the water.

The owner was delighted with the work.  In his own words:

After twenty years of hard use through three owners , my deck had run out of rebate to caulk into, and sported over a hundred replaced teak plugs with many more needing attention each year. I decided to look into the option of replacing the deck.

After getting various quotes, and reading a helpful article in Yachting Monthly I visited TLC’s shed and met Barry. We discussed the deck, the extent of work, the price, and other work, including epoxy and copper coat, a bow thruster. He also introduced me to local contractors who were available to see to various mechanical, electrical, gas and welding issues I had on my list. He also gave me the contact details of his previous recent customers, who all promptly got back to me with glowing reports. The TLC quote was very competitive with no hidden surprises, from beginning to end.

The work took six months under cover in TLC’s shed, and I visited approximately monthly. Throughout, the work was well organised, well executed with care and attention to detail. There was no damage to the boat or contents and every effort had been made to accommodate my requests and coordinate the trades and logistics required.

Finally an excellent job has been done, with honesty and care. I have no hesitation in recommending TLC and their team.
